One of the best-selling chairs has been around for many years but still remains a firm favourite. But why is the Aeron Chair still so popular?

Designed in 1994 by Bill Stumpf and Don Chadwick, the Herman Miller Aeron Chair is one of the few office chairs identifiable by name. It has an almost iconic status in the ergonomic chair market with millions sold worldwide since its launch. Despite its high price tag, it remains one of the best-selling, if not the best-selling, office chairs in the world. Undoubtedly, one of its most appealing features is its looks. The Aeron Chair is a design classic and is on display in New York’s Museum of Modern Art. Manufactured from modern materials, it is well proportioned, with an unusual but distinctive design. Its use of a ‘Pellicle’, a thin, taut membrane of mesh, rather than conventional foam upholstery, revolutionized office chair design. Many manufacturers now offer a mesh option in their chair ranges. With arms suspended from the back rest frame, the chair appears quite minimal from the side view but very substantial from the front or rear.

One of the most unusual aspects of a Herman Miller Aeron Chair is its sizing. Aeron Chairs are available in three sizes, A, B and C. Size B covers the vast majority of people (around 90%) with ‘A’ covering the very smallest percentile and ‘C’ covering the largest, heavier percentile. The positive aspect of this is that the dimensions of the chair are scaled depending on size as is the weight control for the tilt and the chairs are suitable for a much broader diversity of people than many other chairs. One negative aspect, and there are not many, is that the chair relies on the three sizes for seat depth. There is no seat depth adjustment facility on the chair.

Arm height is adjusted on the Aeron Chair via two levers on the rear of each arm or, on some chairs, these levers are replaced by wheels. Arms have a good range of adjustment and move very easily. Arm pads are pivoting as standard, although it is possible to order fixed (non-pivoting) arm pads if required. When positioned inwards, they offer good support for keyboard work and when positioned straight or slightly outwards, they are suitable for mouse or general work. Arm pads are large and well padded.

Herman Miller Chairs are fitted with a Tilt and Forward Tilt facility. The Aeron Chair has the Kinemat tilt which moves naturally and effortlessly through a generous 30 degree recline. There is a tension control and Tilt Limiter – a mechanism to limit how far the chair reclines. The chair also has a Forward Tilt facility which allows the chair to tilt forward, past the upright position. This is particularly useful for close computer work.

The Pellicle seat and back suspension on Aeron Chairs is made from a highly engineered weave. It is quite firm but offers excellent, comfortable support. It has excellent pressure distribution properties and allows air to flow through, preventing heat build-up and allowing moisture to dissipate.

Posturefit is a unique back support mechanism found only on Aeron Chairs. It has a butterfly shaped pressure pad which supports the lumbar region but also supports the lower back, beneath the belt line, which other chairs cannot support. Controlled with a pressure wheel, the Posturefit maintains a healthy posture and comfortable support when seated for long or short periods. There is also a standard lumbar support option consisting of a sliding, reversible bar, similar to other chairs.

It would be very difficult to review the Herman Miller Aeron Chair without taking into account its looks. It is, after all, a design classic! Available in three different Pellicle styles and a range of colours, it looks fantastic, whichever option you choose. It has a graphite frame and base as standard but can be upgraded with a polished base and polished linkages. Although expensive, these polished aluminium options really enhance what is already a stunning looking chair. Herman Miller chairs are extremely well-built, as you would expect from a ‘high-end’ manufacturer. All materials used are very high quality and very well finished.

Since its launch, many other task chairs have tried to copy the Aeron Chair by Herman Miller. It is, after all, an extremely desirable object with many millions of chairs sold worldwide. Even used, refurbished chairs have a strong re-sale market. Many other chairs offer similar features, quality of build and practical comfort but only the Aeron Chair is immediately recognizable as a design classic. If you want a chair as good as an Aeron Chair, buy an Aeron Chair!

Furio Giunta is a soldier that Tony imports from Italy on the HBO television show The Sopranos. He is played by Federico Castelluccio. The character of Furio is used at first in an interesting way: he provides a strange sort of comic relief. On the one hand, Furio seems a little out of place, with amusing Italian mannerisms. On the other hand, Furio is a thug, who doesn’t really even run any criminal organizations, but instead serves as pure muscle for Tony Soprano.

This overlap of a bumbling “foreign man” routine coupled with outbursts of violence carries the character through his first two seasons on the show. In a way, the sense of humor behind this is something similar to that seen with the Coen brothers. Comedy punctuated by violence leaves the audience unclear about how to react. For instance, after the bloody shoot out at the end of Season Three, he is hit in the leg and screams uncontrollably. Is this funny or horrific? Furio leaves us in the position of being unsure how we are supposed to react.

In the fourth season, though, they introduce a new role for Furio: a love interest for Carmela. With the marriage between Carmela and Tony collapsing, she instead develops a crush on Furio. At first, it seems like this might be entirely unreciprocated, but we see that Furio’s “foreign man” routine has largely hidden what was a real alienation from those around him. He falls in love with her as well, and ends up leaving the country.

Like anything related to the mafia, however, the romance between Furio and Carmela proves incredibly dangerous. Furio can’t just win the affections of the boss’s wife or even ex-wife. Instead, the question for Furio is whether or not he kill Tony. What should have been a domestic dispute turns instead into possible murder. Instead of killing Tony, however, he flees, and Tony makes it clear that if was ever found, he would be murdered. This doesn’t upset Carmela as much as one might think, but it’s possible that she doesn’t believe him.

Furio is a curious blend of violence and comedy. In later seasons, he is used as a part of a love triangle that shows the was in which crime corrupts and renders dangerous human interaction.

Now Seniors – definition: Older, Higher, Higher Ranking, Superior, Leading, Chief, Major, Most Important (of course).

How to find the BEST MLM business for Seniors: Start by answering these questions: What are you interested in?

Do you LIKE to sell? What? Phone equipment/plans, Jewelry, Plastic-ware, Cleaning products, Nutritional products, Exercise programs/equipment, Water systems. Do you need a weight loss product? Do you like drinking shakes and dieting, taking fat burning pills, or something easier like just changing brands of something you are already using?

I could go on for two pages at least, but you get the idea. Just get on the Net and look up MLM businesses and keep clicking until you find something you LOVE. Next check out everything about the company and products to be SURE it isn’t just infatuation. Now… JOIN… OR… complete the process in the NEXT paragraph FIRST so you are SURE you’ll be comfortable with your choices. Remember not to get sidetracked by the “shining stars”. What I mean is, if you want people to join YOUR program pick a sponsor who is on the way up… not already at the top. If everyone goes with the Top Dogs, how will anyone new succeed?

Next (or first) is a little bit more difficult task: Find a coach or program you think you can work with. Someone or something that motivates you because you are going to need that motivation to do what is necessary to grow your MLM business. Go about this the same way you found your niche company. Get on the net. Now you can look up programs, trainers, coaches and you can even go to article directories like this one and check out authors who write about what you want to do. Many of them list their training sites if they have one. They even give you free training in their articles. Avoid the Top Dogs here, too.

While you are there, remember to leave a comment on the articles you’ve read. It doesn’t have to be much, even a “Thumbs-Up” will be appreciated. Most MLM on-line businesses will require you to do article writing to build up contacts for yourself, so treat others as you would like to be treated. And don’t let Article Writing scare you. There are PLENTY of programs to teach you to do that, too, if your coach doesn’t already have one built into his/her program. There are also people who can be hired for a song to do this for you.

Now you can sign up with the coach, trainer or program that suites you, and that you can afford. Follow their instructions to the letter. Stay Focused. Put as much time into it as you can manage; the rewards will come, but it does take work up front. Tackle one task at a time so you don’t become scattered. Stay on track!

Being a senior myself, I’m not too crazy about the idea of an MLM business that is BEST for Seniors (we don’t ALL want to sell rocking chairs do we?)! Because Seniors have more experience, patients (for the most part), money (well, maybe not these days), wisdom (you gotta give us that) and Moxie (when was the last time you tried to “put one over” on a senior?)!

Consequently, ANY MLM Business would fit because it isn’t the business, it’s the way it’s MARKETED. So more importantly, what is BEST for YOU? And THAT shouldn’t have anything to do with whether or not you are a Senior. Is there a BEST MLM Business for teenagers?

I’m not trying to get out of fulfilling my commitment of telling you which MLM business if Best for Seniors, but I think you can see: there is no ONE answer to that question… Other than: Everyone is different with different interests, so no matter what social structure you fit into YOU need to find the RIGHT MLM BUSINESS for YOU. As a Senior, you have more wisdom and insight than you did years ago, use them to answer the above questions and find the Right MLM Business for YOU no matter what your age!

Another point, of course, is Seniors may be even MORE suited to an MLM business than the youngsters out there. Providing you aren’t “stuck” in your ways. Seniors can be young in a lot more ways than one can imagine. Most of us look in the mirror and wonder who we are seeing because we don’t FEEL that old!

So an MLM business could be just the perfect set up to keep us Seniors Acting even younger; by giving us hope, excitement, anticipation, the chance to help others, and something to dream about again. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone more determined than a Motivated Senior! Now Start Looking!
